Swedish indie pop outfit the Confusions features singer/guitarist Mikael Andersson-Knut alongside guitarist Patrik Engstrom, bassist Magnus Jonsson, keyboardist Zarah Edstrom and drummer Mattias Lofstrom. Their first release arrived in 1993 as "Split!," one side of a split single shared with Funny Farm, and after supporting shows on the road the band delivered the EP Forever, whose track "All Dressed Up" became a hit. Working with producer Arvid Lind, also known from Popsicle, they completed the 1995 album Being Young; Peter Svensson of the Cardigans then oversaw 1996’s Everyone’s Invited, which yielded the hit "Steroid Hearts," and the same producer returned for Six-O-Seven two years later. Following a four-year hiatus, the group resurfaced in 2002 with Trampoline, recorded under the guidance of Pontus Frisk. Three EPs—Window, Don’t Let the World Catch You Crying and Imagination—appeared across 2004 and 2005, after which the 2006 full-length 5 AM gathered several of those selections. In 2007 the band issued both The Pilot EP and the gentler yet still electric album It Sure Looks Like the Confusions But It Sounds More Acoustic. The Story Behind the Story arrived the next year, followed in 2009 by their eighth long-player, A Permanent Marker. Releases slowed during the ensuing decade, with the next project surfacing only in 2014. On the self-titled The Confusions the band enlisted producer Johan Sigerud of the Soft Eyes and My Orchard plus various guest players, while preserving the earnest, melody-driven power-pop style that had long defined their work.
