The Rebel Light

The Rebel Light is an indie pop outfit based in Los Angeles and fronted by brothers Alan and Jarrett Steil, both natives of Long Island. The Steil siblings first assembled the electronic-leaning pop trio Suddyn in Ireland during the late 2000s. Following modest chart traction on the Emerald Isle, the pair moved the project stateside in 2011 and resettled in Southern California, where drummer Brandon Cooke joined the lineup. The geographic shift prompted a new band name, and under that moniker the Rebel Light issued its self-titled debut EP in 2012. Leaning into a melodic, piano-driven psych-pop style, the group steadily cultivated a following along the West Coast before signing with Photo Finish Records, which released the single “Strangers” in early 2016.
