Biography
Hailing from California, the indie outfit the Seafloor Cinema has earned notice for its energetic, forward-driving fusion of 2000s-style emo and math rock. After issuing 2019’s A Metaphor for Honesty, the band followed with 2021’s In Cinemascope with Stereophonic Sound.
The Seafloor Cinema formed in Sacramento during 2016 and currently comprises lead vocalist/bassist Justin Murry, guitarist Seth Lawrenson, and drummer Timothy Aldama. The project first launched as an instrumental endeavor featuring a modestly altered roster. Murry later assumed vocal responsibilities and wrote the bulk of the material, an approach first heard on 2019’s A Metaphor for Honesty. After further personnel shifts, the band locked in as a trio and delivered its sophomore album in 2021, the Courtney Ballard-produced In Cinemascope with Stereophonic Sound.
