Emerging suddenly in 2017 thanks to the widespread popularity of his track "Jennifer," the rapper and singer Trinidad Cardona, originally from Arizona, experienced a rapid rise that led to a major label agreement and the release of two albums shortly after completing high school. His trajectory shifted abruptly thereafter as he separated from Island Records yet continued releasing music at a consistent, understated pace through the early 2020s. A second opportunity arose when his earlier song "Dinero" gained massive traction online, achieving over three times the impact of "Jennifer." This track achieved international chart success in 2021, paving the way for a renewed partnership with Island and the subsequent drop of his return project, Por Favor.

During the spring of 2017, Cardona, still in his teens, achieved his initial breakthrough almost instantaneously via the '90s R&B-influenced number "Jennifer." The Phoenix native posted a brief performance clip captured amid a school recess, only to discover upon rising the following morning that it had amassed more than seven million views. Although he had already spent years creating music—evidenced by his prior joint effort "Lights Out" alongside Dorian Colter—this unexpected exposure broadened his reach to listeners globally. He produced a complete rendition of "Jennifer," incorporating rap sections and Spanish-language verses, which appeared on an EP alongside the cuts "Ready" and "You Are Mine." Following his high school graduation months after the song's ascent, he committed to music professionally by inking a deal with Island Records. The albums Humble Beginnings and I Understand came out in 2018, after which he ended his association with the imprint.

Subsequently, he juggled everyday employment alongside regular single releases, such as the trap-infused "Solo" from 2019, as well as compact EPs including LOVE and Aventura. Nearly twelve songs emerged in 2020, some featuring SypSki and Juiceboyz. At the same time, the Latin-tinged early release "Dinero" began circulating on social platforms, delivering Cardona another viral phenomenon that surpassed "Jennifer" and secured his return to Island. Throughout 2021, "Dinero" found placement on charts in both Europe and North America. That December saw the arrival of the seven-song set Por Favor.
