Biography
The Swedish indie pop ensemble Vapnet saw its track "Kalla Mig" surface on the group's 2005 debut EP Ge Dom Vald (Give Them Violence). That summer the song secured steady airplay on Swedish Radio P3 and quickly found favor among the country's indie listeners. Led by Martin Abrahamsson of Siberia, the collective drew on the multi-instrumental contributions of Martin Hanberg (likewise from Siberia), Anna Modin, Philip Gates (Days), David Hansson, Stefan Stromberg, Per-Olof Stjernered, Jesper Hedin, and David Nygard. Together they shaped a playful, cartoon-like aesthetic that echoed the Concretes and I'm from Barcelona. The following spring Vapnet issued its first full-length album, Jag Vet Hur Man Väntar (I Know How to Wait), whose lead single "Thoméegränd" soon mirrored the radio success of "Kalla Mig" across Sweden. In 2007 the mini-album Något Dåligt Nytt Har Hänt appeared, showcasing guest vocals from Jens Lekman. Two thousand eight brought the band's third full-length and first studio album, Döda Fallet.
