Biography
Will Heard, the English singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist whose sound merges folk, soul, and funk, contributed guest vocals at age 20 to a U.K.-charting take on "Sonnentanz (Sun Don't Shine)" released in August 2013; that brooding electronic cut originated with Austrian duo Klangkarussell.
Having first picked up the saxophone at ten, Heard developed a soulful, jazz-tinged singing style that frequently mirrored the instrument's tone.
Influenced equally by Nina Simone, Ella Fitzgerald, James Brown, and Free and by later acts including Jessie J and Adele, he kept writing fresh songs and staging U.K. shows in the wake of the attention sparked by "Sonnentanz."
Another vocal collaboration appeared before September ended, this one on "Comfortable," the single from Australian electronic duo the Aston Shuffle.
