With a reflective perspective and talent for memorable melodies, the Los Angeles-based pop pair X Lovers delves into the peaks and valleys of romantic connections. Having played music together from childhood, the pair launched their career formally toward the end of the 2010s via their initial release, virgin.

London Jackson, handling guitars, vocals, and songwriting duties, and Jacob Ames, on production, first crossed paths during elementary education, bonded by mutual admiration for figures such as Kanye West and Green Day. In their younger days, the two even started a punk outfit named Opposition. Upon completing secondary education, relocation to Los Angeles followed, leading them to compose material intended for fellow performers. Securing a deal in 2018 with Visionary Records/RCA enabled the release of tracks including the hazy "Novocaine" and "Easy." In the subsequent year, their reach expanded thanks to popular streams like the gentle "Colder When It Rains" and the driving "King of Capulet." This second song appeared on their inaugural EP, virgin, highlighting an effortless fusion of boundary-crossing pop sounds with emotionally open words.
