Aleandro Baldi, born Aleandro Civai in Greve in Chianti in 1959, gained his first professional break in 1986 when producer and songwriter Giancarlo Bigazzi helped him cut the track “E la Nave Va,” which the singer introduced that year at the Sanremo Festival. The modest reception prompted no immediate follow-up success, yet after issuing E Sia Così in 1987 he reentered the competition in 1992 and captured the best-young-artist prize with the duet “Non Amarmi,” performed alongside Francesca Alotta. Il Sole appeared later the same year, and Ti Chiedo Onestà followed in 1994, the year Baldi claimed the main Sanremo title with “Passerà.” Tu Sei Me reached stores in 1996, after which the artist withdrew from recording and live work. Renewed interest surfaced only when Marc Anthony and Jennifer Lopez recast “Non Amarmi” as “Non Me Ames” in 2000 and when vocal supergroup Il Divo included a version of “Passerà” on their self-titled 2005 debut; those reinterpretations encouraged Baldi to return to the studio. The hybrid collection Il Meglio e il Nuovo, mixing earlier hits with new material, surfaced in 2002, and the full-length Liberamente Tratto arrived in 2007, led by the single “Ricomincio da Qui.”
