Biography
Emerging in 2009 with the largely acoustic solo debut Open Book, Dove Award-winning gospel singer/songwriter, producer, author, and show host Andrew Greer has since pursued an array of projects that encompass the bluegrass-oriented Angel Band, a series of instrumental works, self-help books, the Amazon Prime series Dinner Conversations with Mark Lowry and Andrew Greer, and the podcast Bridges with Patsy Clairmont and Andrew Greer. His third song-focused solo release, Tune My Heart 2: Songs of Goodness & Love, arrived in 2021.
Andrew Brooks Greer, born in Azle, Texas, in 1982, relocated to Tennessee while still a teenager to enroll at Belmont University. After earning a Bachelor of Music degree in 2004, he spent several years on staff at Michael W. Smith’s Rocketown Records before launching his recording career. The debut album Open Book, a collection of singer/songwriter-style folk-inflected religious material, reached stores in September 2009.
Greer subsequently assembled Angel Band and issued the stylistically varied Angel Band: The Hymn Sessions in 2012. An instrumental set issued under his own name, All Things Bright & Beautiful: Hymns for the Seasons, appeared in 2013, alongside Angel Band: The Christmas Sessions. The following year he produced and curated All Is Calm, All Is Bright: Songs of Christmas for the Nashville-based Lucid Artists label; the project included two Greer performances—one a duet with Sandi Patty—plus contributions from Cindy Morgan, Montell Jordan, Ginny Owens, and additional artists. The live album An Angel Band Christmas surfaced in 2015.
Greer introduced the Amazon Prime series Dinner Conversations with Mark Lowry and Andrew Greer in 2017, welcoming guests such as Amy Grant, Wynonna Judd, and Kathie Lee Gifford. Credited to Andrew Greer & Friends, the album Tune My Heart: Songs of Rest & Reflection entered the market in March 2020. Later that year he expanded his résumé by co-hosting the podcast Bridges with Patsy Clairmont and Andrew Greer: Spiritual Connections Through Generational Conversations. Tune My Heart 2: Songs of Goodness & Love followed in mid-2021.
