Biography
Caleb Hearn writes songs with direct honesty and willingly confronts difficult themes, matching his sharp-edged vocal lines to spacious, mood-driven arrangements that intensify the feeling throughout each piece. His 2020 breakthrough track “Always Be” honored lost friends and quickly spread online, opening the door to further releases and EPs that examined early memories, family ties, personal aspirations, and, on the 2024 single “Klonopin,” struggles with mental health.
Mount Airy, North Carolina, is where Hearn was born and raised inside a Christian family. Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift first drew him toward music outside that setting. At thirteen he received his initial guitar and devoted his teenage years to composing; nearing the end of high school he committed to pursuing the craft professionally.
Early on he recorded rap under the name CMH and joined Parduesk (also known as Austin Pardue) for the 2016 SoundCloud project Red in My Veins. Their upbeat number “Air” attracted notice, while the more reflective “Far Away,” another tribute to absent friends, appeared on the 2018 EP Reserves.
By 2019 Hearn had shifted toward introspective pop. The follow-up “Always Be 2.0,” written for another departed friend, caught fire in 2020; its sequel “Brown Eyes, Brown Hair” kept listeners engaged into early 2021 and accumulated millions of streams. After relocating to Nashville he joined the Nettwerk roster and issued the EP We’re Getting Older in 2022, whose song “Where Do We Go from Here?” helped sustain his online following. The 2023 EP 12000 SQ Ft arrived next and included the single “1000 Reasons.” Later that year Birthdays & Funerals explored the cycle of life through partnerships with David Hodges and Dan Swank.
In 2024 Hearn issued the stark, emotionally exposed single “Klonopin,” followed later in the year by his first full-length album.
