Chace, a singer, songwriter, and electronic music producer from mainland China, rose rapidly to international attention when he became the first DJ from that region to appear at Tomorrowland, achieving the milestone just one year after launching his career. Born in 1998 in Yancheng, Jiangsu Province, he started composing songs and creating tracks during his early teenage years. He first trained his vocals through a cappella singing before sharpening his command of English by immersing himself in television shows, films, and recordings from that language. Growing up in a household filled with music, where he played drums alongside his father’s electronic performances, he enrolled at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music to study production and audio engineering. He ultimately left before completing his degree in order to focus entirely on music. Although David Guetta served as an initial inspiration, exposure to Swedish House Mafia solidified his direction. Drawn to Shanghai’s energetic club environment, he soon integrated into the local scene and attracted the attention of the Dutch duo Yellow Claw. In 2016 they released his first EP, Destination, through their Barong Family imprint. Capitalizing on the momentum of the track “Stronger,” he next issued the Moksi collaboration “For a Day.” His second EP, Definition, arrived in 2017 and included the Yade Lauren vocal cut “Something About You.” Before the year ended, the Connections EP followed as a complete joint project with Moksi, again featuring Yade Lauren on the song “Lucky.” Shortly afterward came his Tomorrowland debut.
