A vocalist merging pop leanings with contemporary R&B, Chanel Sosa gathered an array of supporting and guest credits before issuing her first album in 2018. Raised in Brooklyn, she nurtured her abilities from childhood onward through church services and school events. Coursework in liberal modern arts at LaGuardia Community College preceded her entry into the industry in 2007, beginning with a contribution to Gordon Chambers’ Love Stories. Further appearances followed on rap-driven projects, at times under the name Chanel Nicole, including Busta Rhymes’ “Doin It Again,” Wu-Tang Clan’s “Preacher’s Daughter” and “Never Let Go,” Mike Smith’s “Alibi,” and Masta Killa’s “Flex with Me.” Ten years of behind-the-scenes activity ended with the release of B*tch in Me on Razor Sharp, the label run by Smith, RZA, and King Tech; the project registered on Billboard’s Heatseekers chart for the South Atlantic region.
