Biography
Dawn Golden functions as Dexter Tortoriello’s individual project apart from his work in Houses, giving the musician space to explore sounds stretching from doom metal into noise while crafting somber, haze-filled tracks built around distorted electronics and extensively processed instrumentation. His initial output under the Dawn Golden name arrived as the EP Blow in April 2011, though it carried the expanded credit Dawn Golden & Rosy Cross and appeared through Mad Decent/Downtown. Following that release, Tortoriello relocated from Chicago to Los Angeles, where he took up residence in Diplo’s Mad Decent studio. Across the next three years he shaped the introspective and solitary album Still Life, which surfaced in May 2014.
