Biography
Duncan Morley, an Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter inclined toward uplifting R&B and electronic-tinged pop, first attracted notice when DJ Paul Oakenfold delivered a remix of the single “If Time Runs Out.” The track climbed to number 25 on the Billboard Dance Club Songs chart in 2013 and stirred further listener demand. Earlier, the Boston, Massachusetts native had weathered a turbulent adolescence that included five arrests. Time in a wilderness boot camp, where freezing temperatures and solitude encouraged self-reflection, ultimately redirected his path toward music. From childhood Morley had aspired to sing, yet by his teens those ambitions receded behind other choices that led to repeated legal trouble, among them stealing a friend’s mother’s car and prompting a high-speed police chase. His parents placed him in the wilderness boot camp along with other facilities; there he acquired meditation practices that remained useful after his release. Once home he renewed his focus on music and relocated to Los Angeles to study songwriting and production. Early efforts required balancing studio work with day jobs while pursuing meetings with labels and executives. In 2013 Paul Oakenfold’s online release of the “If Time Runs Out” remix generated strong audience response and secured the number-25 chart placement. Additional tracks arrived, among them the Mig Rizzo-produced “Evolution” and Badar’s “You Gave Me Love.” Another milestone came in 2018 when Morley joined legendary rapper and hip-hop mogul Rick Ross on the upbeat single “Find You Now.”
