Biography
Having formerly fronted Mata Violeta as its singer and guitarist, Erica García launched her solo path in 1995. Music had already shaped her life from the moment she picked up the guitar at age seven, an involvement deepened through stints alongside Divididos and Cienfuegos. Ricardo Mollo helmed production of her debut album El Cerebro in 1997, a release that revealed her knack for blending jazz, rock, and Latin rhythms. Bassist Martin Aloé, drummer Gustavo Glussman, and keyboardist Matías Zapata came aboard for the follow-up project, which yielded La Bestia upon its 1998 release. The next year she supplied the song “Quiero Llenarme De Ti” to Sandro’s tribute album. In 2000 Erica García gave a standout performance at Miami’s Second Argentinian Festival and received a Latin Grammy nomination for “Vete Destino” in the Best Female Vocal Performance category.
