Biography
Born Juan Antonio Ferreyra, Argentine rock singer and guitarist JAF assembled his debut group La Máquina Infernal at age twelve before later appearing with Puntual and La Banda Marrón. During the mid-1980s he entered the local heavy metal outfit Riff, where he wrote one of their signature tracks, “Elena X,” included on Riff VII. In 1989 JAF launched his solo path with the album Entrar En Vos. He followed it the next year with Diapositivas, produced by Jorge Da Silva and containing a hit Spanish-language adaptation of Eric Clapton’s “Wonderful Tonight.” On 5 October 1990 JAF opened for Eric Clapton at River Plate Stadium, then shared bills with Billy Idol and Joe Cocker on 14 January 1991. That same year Salida De Emergencia earned gold and platinum certification while the track “Todo Mi Amor” rose on domestic pop and rock charts. BMG issued Hombre De Blues in 1994 after the album was tracked in New York; Corazón En Llamas appeared the following year, and JAF independently released No 7 in April 1997.
