Among alterna-corrido acts, Javier Rosas y Su Artillería Pesada stand out for their deep roots focus. The sextet specializes in narcocorridos and outlaw narratives delivered in a distinct Northern Sinaloan manner, remaining faithful to norteño conventions while addressing contemporary subjects that draw listeners from multiple generations.

Rosas serves as frontman and principal songwriter. Born in Sinaloa in 1992, he has sung throughout his life. The band formed in 2010 in Ciudad Obregon in the Sonoran desert.

Their first independent release, the live album En Vivo, appeared in 2011 and was followed by the studio set Abriendo el Camino. Through steady performances across Northern Mexico and YouTube clips of tracks such as "Me Dicen el Jabón," "Punto y Final," "Los Amigos del Amigo," "Antes Que el Tiempo Pase," "Por Clave Llevo el 13," "Soy el 4," and "En La Sierra y la Ciudad (La China)," the group built radio and social-media visibility in Mexico and the southwestern United States. After self-releasing the second studio album Me Ha Tratada Bien la Vida, they attracted Fonovisa, an imprint of Universal, and signed in 2013.

Recording began at once, yielding several advance singles in late 2013 and early 2014, among them "El Corrido de Napoleon" and "Y Vete Olvidando," both of which climbed the airplay charts. Javier Rosas y Su Artillería Pesada’s first Fonovisa full-length, Llegué Para Quedarme, arrived in November to strong reviews and public response. Otro Golpe followed in 2015, reaching the Top Ten on Regional Mexican Albums and number 15 on Top Latin Albums. Intensive touring the next year expanded their audience north of the border. The February 2017 single "A Tu Amigo" performed strongly on streaming and radio lists, returning 2015’s "El Proximo" to the Latin Airplay chart. Three additional singles preceded the 14-track Hecho en Mexico, issued on Fonovisa in April.

La Ley del Selva appeared in 2018; its twelve songs moved at a rapid tempo, and Rosas reduced banda elements through a leaner production approach. The band spent the ensuing years on the road. During breaks they issued singles that frequently rose on Mexican Regional airplay charts, including "El Colonel," "Comandante Tanque," "Don Adán," and "Aqui Seguimos Firmes (La Chapiza)." Those tracks, five additional cuts, and two new songs were gathered on the March 2023 retrospective Hombre de Ley, which surveyed material from the pandemic period. A third collection of live hits and the concert recording Veteranos de Guerra with Panchito Arredondo also surfaced in December. In January 2024 the single "Las Crias," a collaboration with Martin Castillo and Chicho Castro y Su Alia2, was released; the group also supported Miguel Vega on "El Borrador" that month.
