Jeleel Yussuf, performing as rapper and producer Jeleel, entered the scene toward the close of the 2010s by fusing commanding vocals, Auto-Tune, and "hyper rap" rhythms into an electronically charged revision of the style. His intense social-media activity and outsized character pushed the single “DIVE IN!” into widespread circulation on TikTok, exposing his thunderous approach to more than 50 million listeners.

A Los Angeles, California native, Jeleel started releasing music in the late 2010s and delivered eleven singles across 2017 and 2018. Though still unrefined, those early cuts outlined the essentials of his approach, matching vigorous, pitch-corrected vocals to bass-heavy, proto-"rage beat" tracks that layered rapid electronic momentum onto trap foundations. While contending with homelessness, he released the debut mixtape Angel from Heaven in 2019, an inventive hyperpop-tinged synthesis of his accumulated ideas. After attracting underground notice with the Generation Z EP in 2020, Jeleel reached a wider audience chiefly through online platforms. On TikTok he shaped a persona built around dramatic stunts, prominent musculature, and amplified intensity; the resulting high-energy, magnetic image drew millions of views to his clips and steered attention toward his recordings. That trajectory peaked in 2021 with “DIVE IN!”, which spread across TikTok through his nonstop promotion and stood as a catchy embodiment of his trademark sound while surpassing 50 million streams. Buoyed by this momentum, he entered 2022 with the forceful “RAIN ON YOU!” and the pitch-shifted “JULY!”, then issued the paired tracks “CLUBHOUSE/UNCIVILIZED!” in June.
