Biography
Jencarlos Canela, a Latin pop singer from Miami recognized equally for his rugged good looks and his vocal ability, achieved a Top Five album debut in 2009 after first gaining prominence through telenovela roles on Telemundo. Born April 21, 1988, in Miami, Florida, he completed his studies at the New World School of the Arts in 2006 before entering the acting profession. Although commercials and stage musicals provided early employment, his greatest success arrived via Telemundo telenovelas, where he appeared in Pecados Ajenos (2007), Doña Bárbara (2008), and Más Sabe el Diablo (2009), the last of which cast him as the lead. At the height of Más Sabe el Diablo’s popularity, Canela issued his first full-length solo album, Búscame (2009), which featured the series theme “Amor Quédate” as its lead single. Rudy Pérez wrote and produced nearly every track on the album, which became a major success and climbed to number two on the Billboard Latin Albums chart. Canela next released the single “Mi Corazón Insiste,” followed in 2011 by the album Un Nuevo Día.
