Biography
Born in Post Falls, Idaho, in 1981, country singer-songwriter Jeremy McComb grew up in the Northwest before relocating to Nashville. His earliest exposure to music came through his father, a member of a regional country ensemble that performed six nights a week; as a child, McComb frequently accompanied him to shows and, at age eight, made his first onstage appearance singing “On the Road Again.” During his teenage years he began composing and performing his own material, drawing inspiration from Jim Croce, Shawn Mullins, the Marshall Tucker Band, and Radney Foster. In his early twenties he worked as a disc jockey and music director at a Spokane, Washington, radio station, where he met Dan Whitney just as Whitney’s alter ego Larry the Cable Guy was gaining widespread attention. Whitney subsequently employed McComb as his tour manager, opening doors in the music industry; under the name Jerome McComb, he contributed to the soundtrack of Larry the Cable Guy: Health Inspector (2006) as well as the Blue Collar Comedy Tour albums One for the Road (2006) and Truckload Sale (2007). In 2008 Parallel Entertainment, in partnership with New Revolution, issued his debut album My Side of Town, which produced three singles, among them “This Town Needs a Bar” and “Cold,” the latter peaking at number 43 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart. McComb independently released his second album, Leap and the Net Will Appear, in 2011 through his own McCombOVER imprint, handling production duties himself; although never promoted as an official single, the track “Easy as Breathin’” received notable airplay. He married actress Kourtney Hansen, known for her recurring role on the television series Nashville, in 2013. After stepping away from the Nashville songwriting circuit to concentrate on more personal songs, he delivered the rock-leaning album FM in early 2016. When not touring, McComb co-operates the country venue Nashville North in Stateline, Idaho.
