Country artist John Morgan crafts and performs songs shaped by a workingman's perspective on small-town existence, romance in its successes and failures, and rowdy weekend revelry. His sound fuses the brash energy of classic country-rock with the refined edge of modern Nashville production, a formula evident in his initial releases "Coldest Beer in Town" and "Right in the Middle." Breakthrough arrived in 2022 via the upbeat breakup track "Friends Like That," later included on his four-song EP Man of Few Words.

Born August 8, 1995, in Sylva, North Carolina, Morgan was immersed in music from childhood. By age ten he was already handling guitar duties and vocals within his family's bluegrass group, accompanying them on festival circuits across the United States. Switching to electric guitar prompted his departure from the band so he could refine his abilities as a songwriter and player. He sustained himself through a daytime job for two years while making periodic visits to Nashville in pursuit of entry into the songwriting scene there. In 2019 he relocated fully to the city, immersing himself among established collaborators. An introduction from an Uber driver connected him with Kurt Allison and Tully Kennedy, the Nashville songwriters known for Jason Aldean material. Their initial co-writing session proved highly productive, resulting in Morgan receiving credit on four tracks from Aldean's 2021 album Macon and four more from the 2022 follow-up Georgia, among them the hits "If I Didn't Love You" and "Trouble with a Heartache."

With his songwriting reputation established, Morgan aimed to succeed as a recording artist. Aldean signed him to Night Train Records, which issued his debut single "Coldest Beer in Town" in 2021. Aldean further supported the launch by featuring Morgan as an opener on the 2022 Rock 'n' Roll Cowboy Tour. That March, Morgan represented North Carolina on the television competition American Song Contest, performing "Right in the Middle." The late-2022 success of "Friends Like That" led to its placement on the 2023 EP Man of Few Words. The track also surfaced on Morgan's other 2023 release, Remember Us?, whose title song became another notable achievement for the artist.
