Georgia-based singer/songwriter KIDD G first attracted notice on the Billboard Country Songs chart through his breakout single “Dirt Road,” a 2019 release that paired a slice-of-life country-pop narrative with minimal hip-hop production. The following year he issued his debut EP, then unveiled the full-length Down Home Boy in 2021, a project that merged elements of country, hip-hop, and pop.

Born Jonathan Horne in the small Georgia community of Hamilton, KIDD G cultivated an online following by blending straightforward country narratives with rap attitude. At age sixteen, when “Dirt Road” began circulating widely, he placed the track on the six-song EP Teenage Dream and delivered it to streaming services in 2020, resulting in a Top Country Songs placement. Additional singles that year were “Letter,” “Sorry,” and “Imma Ball.” He maintained the dual nature of his style with 2021 collaborations including “Teenage Dream 2,” featuring rapper Lil Uzi Vert, and “Love Isn’t Real,” a duet with country artist Leah Marie Mason. His first album, Down Home Boy, crystallized this country-pop-rap blend, and he closed the year by expanding it with four bonus tracks. Early 2022 brought the YNW BSlime-assisted single “Left Me” and the solo release “People Talk.”
