Biography
Born Linda Andreasen on October 19, 1973, in Tórshavn, capital of the Faroe Islands, Linda Andrews later established her base in Copenhagen. She first achieved widespread recognition in 2009 by winning the Danish season of the televised talent contest X Factor. Before that breakthrough, she had already issued her debut solo album, the gospel project Revelation, in 2008, after earlier scattered releases that included the 2006 Christmas novelty single “Hot Santa.”
Victory on X Factor brought an instant major-label contract with Sony Music and repositioned her as a mainstream pop act. Her first release under the deal, the April 2009 single “Det Bedste Til Sidst,” topped the Danish charts; the track had been written expressly for her by Søren Rasted of Aqua, the band famed for “Barbie Girl.” She introduced the song on the X Factor season finale, where she also performed P!nk’s “So What.”
A few months after the single’s commercial launch came her full-length major-label album, the primarily English-language Into the Light (2009). It reached number two on the Danish albums chart and generated the follow-up singles “Into the Light” and “Mirror Mirror.”
