Look Twice

Wincent, performing as Vinny, joined forces with Crazy G. to create the Swedish hip-hop duo Look Twice in 1992, with their friend Håkan Libdo providing writing and production support. The group sought to deliver their ‘positive’ brand of rap to Scandinavia, foregrounding strong humane messages in the lyrics rather than the self-aggrandisement or peer chastising that marked much American hip-hop. Their fast verbal delivery echoed the UK reggae MC ‘chatting’ style. The approach stood out on the duo’s first two singles for the Swedish MNW dance label, ‘Shake That Rump’ and ‘Good Thing’, both released in 1993 yet unable to reach an international audience.
