Biography
Luis Jara launched his professional path as a Chilean vocalist in 1985 by claiming victory in the A Song for the Winter competition staged by the Martes 13 television program. He next appeared at Viña del Mar’s festival the following year and placed second with the track “Me Hace Falta.” EMI recognized the performer’s promise and contracted him in 1986, issuing the debut album Amame that same year and Otra Vez De Cero in 1988. In 1991 Luis Jara earned the Best Performance prize after competing in a Dutch festival; shortly afterward he relocated to Buenos Aires, where he recorded the album Inevitable. Jara secured first place at an Egyptian festival in 1995 with “Te Amaré,” a composition by Reynaldo Tomás Martínez. One year later he established a temporary residence in Miami to complete Emociones, then released Para Que No Me Olvides in 1998.
