Emerging from Georgia with an engaging blend of country and pop, Mackenzie Carpenter transformed her initial accomplishments within Nashville’s collaborative songwriting circles into a thriving independent path through the launch of her self-titled 2023 EP, which contained the breakout tracks “Can’t Nobody” and “Huntin’ Season.” In 2025 she delivered her confident first full-length album, Hey Country Queen.

Her expressive country vocal style took root while performing alongside her brothers inside the Georgia sanctuary led by her preacher father. Growing up in the modest community of Hull beyond Athens, she acquired her initial instrumental foundation through guitar instruction from her siblings and received songwriting guidance from her father, whose background included time spent navigating Nashville’s competitive industry. Although her earliest pieces centered on worship material, she cultivated a broader, more worldly approach upon relocating to Music City, where she pursued studies in songwriting and music business at Belmont University. Completing her degree during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, she returned home under lockdown conditions yet sustained her development through virtual co-writing sessions. Breakthrough arrived in 2021 when “Villain,” which she crafted alongside Kyle Clark and Lily Rose, achieved widespread viral success for the latter performer. Carpenter’s own debut single, “Can’t Nobody,” surfaced the next year and quickly accumulated millions of streams, followed later in 2022 by the similarly popular “Huntin’ Season.” Soon afterward she joined tours alongside Miranda Lambert, Jake Owen, and Ryan Hurd while also headlining packed performances at Nashville venues such as The Listening Room and The Basement East. These recordings, together with the additional standout “Don’t Mess with Exes,” comprised her 2023 EP, Mackenzie Carpenter. She sustained her ascent in 2024 by issuing “Only Girl,” the lead single previewing her upcoming debut album. Early the following year, Hey Country Queen arrived, spotlighting the radio favorites “Dozen Red Flags” and “Jesus, I’m Jealous.”
