Magneto

Magneto first took shape in 1983 as a Mexican teen pop group. Their debut album, Dejalo Que Gire, appeared the next year and was followed by Super 6 Magneto. The Latin pop outfit endured multiple lineup changes before securing their initial gold record in 1986. Specializing in dance-pop material, the five-member ensemble launched Central American tours once “Todo Esta Muy Bien” and “Soy Un Soñador” began scaling the charts. Their decisive breakthrough arrived with a Spanish-language cover of Desireless’ “Voyage Voyage,” the French pop hit from the ’80s. In 1992 the boy band assumed lead roles in the feature film Cambiando el Destino. The original Magneto nevertheless dissolved in 1996 following a sold-out concert at Mexico City’s Auditorio Nacional.
