Emerging from the Netherlands, Mr. Probz has carved out recognition as an R&B and hip-hop performer whose tracks have found audiences well beyond his home country. Born Dennis Princewell Stehr, he entered the hip-hop scene through graffiti culture. Blending these pursuits produced a consistent flow of independent singles and joint recordings that sustained his career until 2010. That year brought the BNN/State Award for Best New Artist, an unusual distinction for an unsigned act. He subsequently formed his own imprint, Left Lane, and placed it under a deal with Traumashop/Republic. His debut full-length effort, The Treatment, arrived in 2013. The same year also saw him guest on the Opposites’ Top 10 Dutch single “Sukkel Voor de Liefde.” Worldwide attention followed in 2014 when “Waves” topped charts in multiple territories after a Robin Schulz remix. The breakthrough opened doors to high-profile work with EDM producers Afrojack and David Guetta, while another hit, “Nothing Really Matters,” surfaced before year’s end. Dutch chart presence remained strong in 2015 through a feature on Armin van Buuren’s single “Another You.” His own 2016 release, “Fine Ass Mess,” kept momentum going. In 2017 he issued the solo tracks “Til You’re Loved” and “Tears Gone Bad,” together with “Gone,” which included featured rapper Anderson .Paak. Early 2018 brought the understated “Space for Two” and “Praying to a God,” a cover of the original recording by Norwegian duo Nico & Vinz.
