Nicky Youre garnered international recognition toward the end of 2021 by infusing the relaxed summer atmosphere of his Southern California origins into the sweet pop number "Sunroof," which secured a Top Five ranking in the U.S. along with various other nations. This number later appeared on Good Times Go, his debut album released in 2023.

Having spent his formative years in Orange County, Youre took up songwriting and production during his adolescence within his bedroom. Although his initial offering, the 2020 single "Sex and Lemonade," delivered an easygoing and youthful exploration of budding romance, it was the follow-up track "Sunroof"—with its undeniable hooks—that propelled him to widespread streaming acclaim. The track, shaped by Los Angeles producer Dazy and issued via Columbia Records in late 2021, gained traction on charts around the world before peaking at number four on the Billboard Hot 100 in the year that followed. Early 2022 saw the arrival of his next release, "Never Go Wrong," a joint effort with fellow Californian David Hugo, which was succeeded by "Eyes on You" and "Shut Me Up." The singer's first album, Good Times Go, incorporated all these tracks upon its June 2023 launch.
