Savana Santos, a vocalist and songwriter born in Quincy, Illinois, first began composing material as a teenager. While still enrolled in high school, she assembled the trio Avenue Beat alongside friends Sami Bearden and Sam Backoff. The group relocated to Nashville, where they landed a contract with Valory Music Co., a Big Machine Records imprint, and issued their self-titled EP in 2019 plus the single “Ruin That for Me.” The following year “F2020” became a streaming and Top 40 success, prompting work on a full-length project. During those sessions Sam Backoff chose to exit, leaving the remaining members to issue Debut Farewell in 2021 after the band had already split—an outcome they openly reference in an interlude on the album. Santos subsequently pursued a solo route, writing for Bea Miller, JP Saxe, Sophia Messa, Little Big Town, and Riley Roth, among others, before unveiling her own debut single, “Messy,” in June 2023.
