Biography
Spanish alt-punk duo Señor Trepador consists of Oscar Linares and Pablo Pereira. Both musicians emerged from Sevilla’s local scene, where each belonged to a different act before crossing paths in 2004. A mutual contact introduced Linares to an established group seeking a replacement drummer; that connection brought him together with Pereira. Performing under the name Los Mamarrachos, the ensemble focused on covers of Extremoduro and Fito & Fitipaldis. Dissatisfied with the project’s scope, Linares and Pereira left to launch a stripped-down guitar-and-voice partnership. Intent on writing material with substantive themes that set them apart from other young acts, they adopted the moniker Señor Trepador. The pair continued composing pieces centered on love, passion, and broken dreams, steadily building an extensive repertoire of original songs. Their emphasis on mature subject matter at an early stage drew notable notice. Roughly two years after forming, Señor Trepador issued their first album through DRO affiliate Treintay3 Producciones. Produced by Spanish rock veteran Alejo Stivel, Aforismos Invertebrados appeared when Linares was 16 and Pereira was 20—before either could legally purchase alcohol in the United States. The record reached the national Top 50 within twelve months. The following year the duo toured extensively across Spain and Mexico.
