Shaylen

A soulful vocalist whose resonant tones anchor a pop sensibility infused with electronic dance music, hip-hop, and R&B, Shaylen Carroll—known professionally as Shaylen—first surfaced with the 2019 EP Highs and Lows. That project was followed in 2020 by Temporary Feelings and Santa Barbara, and in 2021 she teamed with Jerome Price on the single “Disturbia.”

Born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, she spent her formative years in Allen, a Dallas suburb, where she began singing in church and appearing in local children’s theater productions. She also performed with her school choir and studied voice, piano, and guitar privately. After graduation she made a brief appearance on the tween musical sitcom The Wannabes, then moved to Los Angeles in 2014 to pursue a solo career.

Shaylen first drew wider notice in 2016 with a featured vocal on DJ Chuckie’s “Warrior.” Subsequent collaborations with Manse, Manila Killa, Niko the Kid, and other producers kept momentum building. She issued her own singles “Kamikaze,” “Just a Little Bit” with Cory Enemy, and “Paranoid,” then released the debut EP Highs and Lows in 2019, highlighted by the break-up anthem “BTW.” Two more EPs, Temporary Feelings and Santa Barbara, arrived the following year. In July 2021 she reunited with Jerome Price for “Disturbia.”
