Fierce Texas trapper That Mexican OT, whose name expands to Outta Texas, fused trap rhythms with mariachi guitars through bold lyricism and an unyielding flow. He launched his recording career via the 2020 tape South Texas Project, then followed with the singles “Heart Stopper” and “Yoppas & Choppas,” which quickly positioned him as a rising regional figure. His headstrong approach, rapid gritty cadence, and skill at building cinematic soundscapes over angular beats drew notice from online listeners and club DJs alike. Six further singles arrived in 2021, among them the charting track “Child’s Play.” Thirteen releases the next year included “Chingon” featuring Peso Peso and “Kick Doe Click,” both of which registered on charts across several Latin American territories. In 2023 the single “Johnny Dang” with Paul Wall and DRODi climbed to number 14 on the Hot 100. The 18-track debut album Lonestar Luchador, rich in featured guests, surfaced that July, with Texas Technician arriving the following year. Subsequent partnerships involved Denzel Curry, Maxo Kream, Lil’ Keke, and additional artists.

Bay City native Virgil Gazca, shaped early by influences stretching from Big L to George Strait, displayed raw rap skill as a child by effortlessly out-rapping his father and friends. After high school in Austin he adopted the alias That Mexican OT to honor both his Texan upbringing and Mexican heritage, then began laying verses over online beats and debuted in 2020 with the distinctly Texan cut “Southside Stepping.” A potent mix of machine-gun delivery, sturdy lyricism, and 808-driven production soon marked him as an artist to watch on the local scene; that approach crystallized on the 13-track South Texas Project, which introduced his outsized personality to wider audiences. Continued output followed: the 2021 mixtapes Southside Steppin and 1 Double 0 supplied a steady stream of hard-hitting anthems, a remix of Peso Peso’s “Hardest Ese Ever” became his first major success, and the 2022 album Nonsense and Mexican Shit raised production values with a more cinematic treatment of his core sound. After releasing the ChopNotSlop Remix version of that album alongside OG Ron C, he issued the nine-track project The Show Must Go On with Saxkboy KD in 2023.

Each new single now routinely draws multi-million view counts, enabling OT to recruit Paul Wall and DRODi for “Johnny Dang,” a proudly Texan salute to the celebrated jeweler that became his biggest hit to date, reaching number 14 on the Hot 100 while appearing on charts in more than a dozen countries and accumulating tens of millions of streams. Lonestar Luchador, his first proper solo album, arrived in July 2023 and contained 18 selections featuring Ralph Barbosa, Jr., BigXthaPlug, Lefty Sm, Maxo Kream, and Big Yavo. The follow-up Texas Technician, released in 2024, included appearances by Z-Ro, Moneybagg Yo, and Slim Thug; a ChopNotSlop Remix edition followed. Additional activity encompassed Denzel Curry’s “Black Flag Freestyle,” the track “1982” with Curren$y and LE$, and “War Wounds” alongside Maxo Kream and Lil’ Keke.
