Biography
The San Francisco trio the M Machine embraced a sonic direction aligned with the forward-looking French house and electronica movement. Originally assembled as a studio project, the group attained rapid arena status after signing with Skrillex's OWSLA label. Eric Luttrell, Andy Coenen, and Ben Swardlick, less than a year after coming together, issued their opening EP, Metropolis, Pt. 1, in April 2012 while launching a prominent festival circuit through North America and Europe that incorporated an elaborate visual element built around a massive, emblematic "M" assembled from LCD panels. They soon reentered the studio to finalize their first full-length release, Metropolis, Pt. 2, which appeared in February 2013. One year afterward came the single "Superflat" and the Just Like EP. The M Machine resurfaced in 2017 with the studio album Glare, which showcased guest contributions from Luisa Gerstein and Phantasmosis.
