Formed in Britain during the early 1990s by Elaine Hanley, Andy Hawthorne, and David Mark Pennells, Jr., the World Wide Message Tribe blends house rhythms with lyrics of Christian inspiration to bridge worship settings and club environments. The group first issued several albums exclusively for European gospel listeners before reaching American audiences with their 1996 Warner Bros. debut, We Don't Get What We Deserve. The following year saw the release of the energetic Jumping in the House of God, which drew contributions from fellow Christian club acts HOG and Shine, while Revived also appeared in 1997 and Frantik arrived in early 2001.
