Comprising the MCs P.N.O. from Colombia, Reychesta from the Dominican Republic, and Rocca from Colombia, the Latin hip-hop group Tres Coronas came together in 2001 amid the streets of Corona in New York City. The trio first cultivated a devoted underground audience by circulating self-produced mixtapes through their Parcero Productions imprint, which found listeners throughout the United States, Latin America, and Europe. Once they completed their debut album, the act already held underground-celebrity status, enabling sales exceeding 10,000 copies driven by that same following. An international tour followed the album’s arrival, bringing the group acknowledgment across the Latin hip-hop scene. Additional compilation appearances ensued, including spots on Chosen Few and Hip-Hop en Tu Idioma. In 2006 the trio partnered with Machete Music to issue their debut CD/DVD project, Nuestra Cosa, whose videos and short documentary sought to document the full urban Latin experience alongside the latest tracks. Guest contributions came from artists such as Kafu Banton, Negro Jettro, and Colombian Macho. Reychesta soon launched a solo path, while P.N.O. and Rocca concentrated on preparing Tres Coronas’ subsequent release and maintaining an active touring calendar. All three members continue to reside and create in New York.
