Biography
Since the middle of the 2010s, multi-talented singer, rapper, and producer Young Rog has maintained an active career, aligning with the respected LVRN label—home to 6LACK and duet partner Summer Walker—starting in 2018. His measured release strategy there yielded select singles such as the cold-blooded "New" and the lithe slow jam "Destiny," leading to the June 2021 arrival of Boy Next Door, his debut full-length.
A Newport News, Virginia native, Roger Atwell first gained notice as Young Rog via SoundCloud uploads around 2014. His earliest standout tracks included the self-produced "Think I'm Flexin" and the Takeoff collaboration "Workin." After joining the roster of Interscope-distributed LVRN (short for Love Renaissance), he issued three commercial singles from 2018 through 2020: "Ex-mas Song," "New," and "On the Road." He opened 2021 by pairing with labelmate Summer Walker on "Bullshit," then released the additional R&B cut "Destiny" before delivering the full-length Boy Next Door that June.
