Biography
Zoë Badwi entered the ranks of Australian actresses who transitioned into pop stardom, much like Kylie Minogue, Natalie Imbruglia, and Holly Valance. Her musical journey commenced as one member of the girl band Sirens, prior to launching a solo path that produced multiple anthems dominating club charts. Melbourne native Badwi initially pursued modeling, featuring in notable advertisements for Telstra and Mars, which led to her role in the ABC drama Raw FM centered on an independent radio station. During 2001, she became part of the trio Sirens, achieving two successful tracks with "Like Fire, Like Rain" and their rendition of the Pointer Sisters' "I'm So Excited," prior to the group's dissolution that same year. Persisting in her creative output, Badwi composed and sang jingles across multiple radio outlets. Her performance leading Black Dog at a Melbourne venue caught the attention of Grant Smillie from the electronic pair TV Rock, whose admiration for her voice prompted a collaboration offer. Following her contract with Neon Records, the first solo release "Release Me" earned a nomination in the Best Dance Release category for the 2009 ARIA Awards, succeeded by the Top Ten hit "Freefallin'." A U.S. agreement with Atlantic Records materialized in 2010, after which she initiated album production involving Static Revenger, Rogue Traders, and the English singer/songwriter Amy Pearson.
