Hailing from Los Angeles, rapper, producer, and songwriter Alec King specializes in a witty, laid-back fusion of hip-hop, R&B, and pop. His smooth delivery, polished beats, and playful wit come together on cuts such as the 2019 single “Larry David,” the 2020 release “Ur a Bitch and I Hate U Cuz U Broke My Heart,” and the EPs Greatest Hits, Vol. 1 and Greatest Hits, Vol. 2, both issued in 2019, yielding relatable streaming successes.

Born in Denver, Colorado, in 1994, King cultivated an early fascination with hip-hop, rap, and studio production during his teenage years. After finishing high school he relocated to Los Angeles, where he began sharing relaxed, hip-hop-focused material online in 2017. Listeners first took notice of his independent 2018 track “Visions,” which gained substantial streaming traction, followed by the success of that year’s “Boy Do We Love Alcohol.” These releases led Heavy Group/Republic Records to sign him in 2019. His official debut EP, Greatest Hits, Vol. 1, appeared that January and showcased the Rich the Kid collaboration “Keep It Real” alongside “Never Write a Song About U.” One month later he delivered Greatest Hits, Vol. 2, which featured Biz Markie on “Poltergeist,” Kiana Ledé on “Larry David,” and production work by Pink Sweat$. Into the following year he stayed active, unveiling “Dangerous” in January 2020, “Ur a Bitch and I Hate U Cuz U Broke My Heart” in February, and “Way Up” that May.
