Originating from Mazatlán, Sinaloa, the expansive Banda Sinaloense MS de Sergio Lizárraga ranks among the decorated ensembles in regional Mexican music. Since issuing the debut album No Podrás in 2004, the group’s live shows have routinely blended rancheras with Mexican pop and classic rock selections. Immediately afterward the musicians launched an ongoing schedule of performances, pausing only briefly to prepare singles and albums for release. The 2008 effort Escuela de Rancho ascended to the top of radio playlists on the strength of the pervasive track “El Mechón.” Their extended association with Disa Records concluded with the 2012 studio release Mi Razón de Ser. Maintaining their stature as a premier touring act, the band aligned with Sony’s Lizos imprint. They secured an initial chart-topping position via 2017’s Mejor Versión de Mí and sustained Top 20 visibility with subsequent projects such as 2018’s Con Todas las Fuerzas and 2020’s El Trabajo Es la Suerte.

Tuba player Sergio Lizárraga and his brother, clarinetist Alberto Lizárraga, established the 15-piece Banda Sinaloense MS de Sergio Lizárraga in 2003. Julión Álvarez served as the original lead vocalist. Following a brief stretch performing at local festivals and weddings, the ensemble secured a contract with Disa and added vocalist Alan Manuel Ramírez Salcido as its sixteenth member in 2004. After the 2004 debut No Podrás, the outfit cultivated a reputation for nearly uninterrupted road work. Although singles and albums maintained public awareness, Escuela de Rancho introduced the band to the broader regional Mexican audience in 2008 and registered their first appearance on the charts.

Banda Sinaloense MS de Sergio Lizárraga maintained an intensive touring regimen across the Sinaloan region and throughout Mexico. Mi Mayor Anhelo surfaced in 2005, again generating substantial radio attention and gradual sales growth. Their standing as a live attraction expanded, extending their following into the United States. Álvarez departed for a solo career in 2006, after which Salcido and Oswaldo Silvas assumed vocal duties. Several further albums passed before commercial breakthrough arrived, yet Disa retained the act as sales continued to climb. The 2008 release Escuela de Rancho, propelled by the hit single “El Mechón,” finally elevated the group to radio prominence and the Top Ten of regional Mexican recordings domestically. Corridos Atrevidos arrived in 2009 and included the single “El 24,” solidifying their marketplace and touring presence. Amor Enfermo reached inside the Top 30 in 2011, while the final Disa pair—2012’s Mi Razón de Ser and 2013’s 10 Aniversario—both entered the Top Ten.

Late in 2013 Banda Sinaloense MS de Sergio Lizárraga moved to Universal and began collaborations with leading songwriters from the traditional Mexican music community for their first project on the label. The single “No Me Pidas Perdón,” drawn from the upcoming album, received an early release in April 2014 and occupied the number-one position on multiple charts for 16 weeks. The full-length followed in July and achieved comparable results; the second single, “Háblame de Ti,” remained in the Top 20 for more than 15 weeks beginning in October. Universal issued a hits compilation in spring 2015, a new live album in July, and the collection 20 Corridos Bien Perrones in October, all while the musicians continued touring and preparing another studio recording. “A Lo Mejor” from the live set charted as a single that summer, succeeded in the fall by an edited version of “Piénsalo.”

February 2016 brought both the single “Solo con Verte” and the studio album Que Bendición, each registering immediate chart entries and prompting renewed airplay and digital sales for earlier catalog material from the greatest-hits package. La Mejor Versión de Mí appeared in April 2017, containing material written by Espinoza Paz, Edén Muñoz, and Horacio Palencia. It reached the summit of Regional Mexican Albums and number three on Top Latin Albums, while the track “Tengo Que Colgar” entered the Top 20 on Latin Streaming Songs. The following year the group received the Billboard Award for Regional Mexican Artist of the Year, Duo or Group. Their next studio album, 2018’s Con Todas las Fuerzas, attained number five on Top Latin Albums and remained on the chart for 90 weeks.

Following the 2019 live release En Vivo CDMX, Banda Sinaloense MS returned to the studio and delivered the collaborative single “Que Maldición” with Snoop Dogg in early May. It climbed inside the Top Five at streaming and reached number nine on the Regional Mexican charts. In August 2020 the band issued their thirteenth studio album, El Trabajo Es la Suerte, which entered Billboard’s Top Latin Albums chart at number 16.
