Big Fat Snake originated in 1990 and has established itself among Denmark's enduring rock acts, a notable achievement for a band whose moniker derives from a lyric by Bob Dylan. The group's history actually traces to 1988, at which point guitarists Peter Viskinde and Anders Blichfeldt first connected during the recording of a demo for the short-lived outfit the Werners. Once that project dissolved, the pair joined forces with fellow rock veterans to establish Big Fat Snake, putting out their self-titled debut record in 1991. Over the ensuing years of the decade, the band cultivated a substantial domestic audience in Denmark without achieving significant recognition abroad. Breaking from their established pattern following the release of eleven albums, they collaborated in 2003 on One Night of Sin alongside Elvis Presley's former associates the T.C.B. Band together with the Sweet Inspirations on backing vocals. In the years that followed, additional releases came with More Fire in 2004, Between the Devil and the Big Blue Sea in 2006, and NU in 2007.
