Biography
Cauty serves as the stage identity for urbano performer Christian Mojica Blanco, who also writes, raps, and produces. His fluid handling of trap beats that weave through reggaeton, hip-hop, pop, and tropical elements produced numerous successful recordings, among them the 2018 breakout video releases “Ta to Gucci” featuring Rafa Pabón and the subsequent remix that added Brytiago, Cosculluela, Darell, and Chencho Corleone to the original lineup with Rafa Pabön. Together those clips surpassed 140 million views. He first worked behind the scenes as a producer, achieving local traction in Puerto Rico prior to stepping forward as an internationally recognized vocalist. The combination of his smooth, reedy baritone and astute beat construction yielded later successes such as the 2019 track “Lola,” whose clip accumulated a million views inside its opening four days.
Born in Caugas, Puerto Rico in 1994, he initially gravitated toward athletics and displayed notable talent on the court. Exposure to salsa alongside his parents introduced him to Hector Lavoe, who became an early hero. Later encounters with reggaetoñeros Héctor el Father, Daddy Yankee, and Don Omar expanded his tastes, yet hearing contemporary figures like Farruko and Arcángel finally prompted him to create his own material. He began composing privately in school notebooks and scouring online resources to master production techniques. At age 15, while already an all-star high-school basketball player, he acted on that longstanding interest by informing his parents of plans to build a home studio and make music professionally. His father offered support while his mother expressed reservations. He continued his studies, securing a basketball scholarship to the University of Puerto Rico in Cayey that led to a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education.
In 2013, at 19, he connected with local producer Cris Omar, who oversaw Cauty’s debut single “La Cafreria,” a regional success. He then constructed his own studio and retreated there for extended stretches to refine his distinctive rhythmic approach. He also joined Omar’s Hit Level Productions and, in 2014, placed three further tracks—“Sabes Las Reglas,” “Te Hablo Claro,” and “Nos Conviene”—on social platforms. By 2015 he was immersed in nonstop creation, often remaining in the studio for weeks, working with fellow artists, and appearing live. Over the following two years Cauty and Omar put out several well-received club tracks, among them “El Truco” featuring Brray and Joyce Santana, “A Detal,” and “El Chinguer.”
Although those cuts received Puerto Rican airplay, his real breakthrough arrived in 2018 when he joined Takeover & Limitless Records and issued “Ta Tto Gucci” featuring Rafa Pabón. The song first gained traction on YouTube, spread across streaming services, and eventually reached radio, becoming a genuine hit that prompted a star-laden remix six months later, which performed even better on the charts. Between December 2018 and April 2019 he released no fewer than eight singles and videos, including “Con Su Amiga,” “Coqueto,” and “Adi,” every one of which charted. Additional appearances found him on Rauw Alejandro’s “Borrarte” and Lyanno’s “Casualidad.” Early in 2019 he contributed to Juanka’s “Que Rico,” then dropped his own “Lola” in April; that video reached a million views in four days and nearly three million within two months while spending four weeks on the Hot Latin Songs and Latin Rhythm Tracks charts.
