Known for his ballads and narcocorridos in the Mexican Regional genre, Crecer Germán performs and composes in that style. Born in Sinaloa, he spent most of his upbringing in Tijuana. An early fascination with music prompted him to take up guitar and begin crafting original material while still in his early teens. Self-recorded clips posted to YouTube via his computer attracted the banda group Alta Consigna, which promptly installed him as frontman and principal songwriter. The ensemble distributed the majority of its output through social networks, where its youthful good looks, sweet vocal harmonies, and unusual take on the form helped accumulate millions of views. Germán stepped away to launch a solo career in 2015. His debut album, Si Soy Infiel, appeared that same year on Rancho Humilde and earned him a recording contract with Coco Records/Fonovisa. The follow-up video single “Lo Que Te Amo” surpassed 24 million YouTube views and prepared the ground for his next album. A second advance single, “Quién Te Entiende,” logged 17 weeks on the Mexican Regional Songs chart and reached number seven, while its official video collected eight million views in just four weeks. Germán issued his sophomore album, Hombre Afortunado, in October 2016.
