Colombian native Dylan Fuentes brought his silky singing style to emotionally charged reggaeton and achieved worldwide recognition toward the close of the 2010s and into the following decade through numbers such as “Ajena” and “Mente.”

Although the artist—born Dylan Steffs Fuentes Fuenmayor—gained traction only in the latter half of the 2010s, his foundation in music was already forming at the decade’s outset. Early on he issued renditions of songs including J Balvin’s “Sin Compromiso” and competed on the 2011 season of the television contest El Factor Xs. A series of vocal-centric releases issued under the moniker Dylan “El Multifacetico,” among them “Vuelve,” “Santa Diabla,” and “Pegate Mas,” preceded his initial international breakthrough under the name Dylan Fuentes, when rap-infused cuts like “Me Acostumbré” and “Uber Sex” amassed multimillion streaming totals. The pivotal January 2019 single “Ajena,” which featured Myke Towers and accumulated ten million views inside three months, marked his pivot toward reggaeton’s prevailing aesthetic, with Dayme y El High handling the production. Subsequent releases sustained the momentum: the rhythm-focused “Toke” and the Tainy-assisted “Tu Amiga” and “Mente” each surpassed tens of millions of streams. In 2021 Fuentes joined Cazzu for “Tu Verdad” and delivered a reflective statement on “DF.”
