Biography
El Guero y Su Banda Centenario, a regional Mexican ensemble devoted to duranguense, maintains its base in San Antonio, TX. The bandleader El Guero entered the world as Jorge Hernández in Milwaukee, WI, as the child of Mexican immigrants originating from Jalisco. In addition to vocals, he performs on guitar, piano, drums, and percussion, and after settling in San Antonio in 2004 he began recording for A.R.C. Discos. His first full-length effort, Para Mis Compás (2004), incorporates a couple songs written by his uncle, the esteemed songwriter Ramón González Mora, who is best known for his work with Conjunto Primavera, among others. Additional El Guero y Su Banda Centenario titles issued on A.R.C. Discos comprise El Amigo de Tus Penas (2005), Una Vez Mas (2006), Cumbias y Polkas (2007), and Antes y Despues (2008), the last of which contains his biggest hit to date, "Antes."
