Hailing from Houston’s Sunnyside neighborhood in the city’s southern sector, rapper and songwriter Fre$H shapes his verses through a fluid sing-rap delivery that channels the essences of Travis Scott and Chris Brown. After recording initially as Short Dawg, he adopted his present name and unveiled his first studio album, Fre$hism, in 2018.

Born Supreme Williams, he entered the industry as a Def Jam artist in the early 2000s and moved to Young Money in 2009. Under the Short Dawg alias he dropped multiple mixtapes, among them the Southern Flame Spitta series, merging Houston’s chopped-and-screwed aesthetic with densely worded rhymes in the vein of label founder Lil Wayne. In the late 2010s he exited the imprint, rebranded as Fre$H, and embraced a calmer vocal approach built around melodic passages and atmospheric beats. The single “Petty,” featuring 50 Cent and 2 Chainz, provided the first glimpse of this direction. It was followed by the March Madness 4 EP, which included guest spots from RL, Iamsu, 2 Chainz, and Trinidad James. Issued that autumn, the debut full-length Fre$hism contained “Petty” plus further appearances by Chris Brown, Wiz Khalifa, Kap G, and additional artists.
