Biography
Originating from Peoria, Illinois, Ghost Key execute a melodic hardcore and metalcore approach defined by punishing force, emotional depth, and exacting execution. The lineup consists of Austin O'Brien handling lead vocals, Chris Bayless and Stephen Wegman on guitars, Ryan Murphy on bass, and Andrew Buchanan on drums. These five close friends first united in 2012, initially focused solely on sporadic hometown performances. Only months after forming, they tracked their debut four-song demo Winter and issued it on cassette. At the same time, they teamed with Vanitas for a split single. Growing recognition soon expanded their schedule from brief two-week Midwest runs into extended outings alongside Beartooth and Silent Planet. The six-song EP MMXIII-MMXIV surfaced in March 2014, while 2015 brought a partnership with No Sleep Records for the four-song release The Things I Am Not. Following further intensive touring, the band shifted to InVogue Records, which delivered their debut full-length If I Don't Make It in February 2017.
