Gaining notice through live DJ sets as Carnage between 2012 and 2021, the artist later known as Gordo moved into studio production, contributing to Drake’s Honestly, Nevermind (2022) and For All the Dogs (2023). His own discography includes the 2015 release Papi Gordo, the 2017 album Battered Bruised & Bloody, and 2024’s Diamante.

Born Diamanté Blackmon in Nicaragua and raised in Frederick, Maryland, he started spinning records in neighborhood clubs while still a teenager and eventually took the name Carnage. Ultra Records signed him in 2015 and put out the trap-oriented Papi Gordo, which reached the top of Billboard’s dance albums, Independent, and Heatseekers charts; the project featured Migos, Rick Ross, Lil Uzi Vert, and ILoveMakonnen, the latter on the gold-certified single “I Like Tuh.” A joint EP with Young Thug titled Young Martha appeared in 2017, followed a year later by the full-length Battered Bruised & Bloody.

After multiple seasons on the road as Carnage—including four appearances on DJ Magazine’s yearly Top 100 DJs poll in 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2021—he adopted the Gordo moniker in 2022 and began steering his sound toward house and techno. That year also marked the start of an ongoing partnership with Drake, for whom he produced the lead singles “Sticky” and “Massive” from Honestly, Nevermind. Additional production credits followed on “Gently” and “Rich Baby Daddy” from Drake’s 2023 set For All the Dogs. In 2024 Gordo issued his third solo album, Diamante, which contained the track “Sideways” featuring Drake.
