Biography
Singer, actress, and fashion icon Jisoo added a sweet and down-to-earth presence to Blackpink, the South Korean girl group whose record-shattering achievements spanned Asia and the wider world from the late 2010s into the 2020s. Extracurricular work had already occupied her time away from the quartet as far back as 2014, yet her first official solo release arrived in 2023 via the single album Me, whose tracks comprised “Flower” and “All Eyes on Me.”
Born Kim Ji-soo in 1995 in Gunpo, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea, she spent her childhood engaged in sports while nurturing an affinity for the arts before entering YG Entertainment as a trainee in 2011. Appearances in music videos and television dramas preceded her 2016 selection for Blackpink. With Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa, Jisoo accumulated multiple chart-topping singles and albums in Korea, the U.S., and additional territories, establishing the quartet among the era’s foremost K-pop acts. During the same period she hosted the South Korean music program Inkigayo, took roles in Arthdal Chronicles and Snowdrop, and forged high-profile fashion partnerships with Dior, It Michaa, and Cartier. Songwriting contributions from her appear on “Lovesick Girls,” included on 2020’s The Album, and on “Yeah Yeah Yeah,” featured on 2022’s Born Pink.
