Biography
Killumantii, the rapper from Atlanta, drew on her prominence as a social media personality to introduce listeners to her abilities as a songwriter. She started by uploading footage of her rapping across multiple platforms and joining music video challenges, a few of which circulated widely online. Centering her work on combative verses over shadowy, forceful productions, she progressed from independent single drops to issuing her opening mixtape near the close of 2018.
Born in 1999 and brought up in Atlanta, Killumantii developed an early affection for rap and penned her first rhymes while still in elementary school. During her teenage years she entered regional freestyle contests and adopted her stage name, drawn from a Tupac line. At that stage she also shared short rap clips on various accounts, building more than a million followers who followed the videos. In 2017 those segments grew into the atmospheric singles “Undercover Pressure” and “Rules.” The tracks, alongside her online following, attracted industry notice and produced a 2018 signing to Generation Now, the Atlantic imprint. Later the same year she released her debut mixtape Yellow Tape, which included contributions from Juicy J., JT the 4th, and further guests.
